In its rough sawn form, it presents exactly as cut from the log, with no additional planing—offering maximum material for custom sizing and shaping. Appearance and Character Colour: Rich crimson to dark red-brown, with a natural chatoyance (light-reflecting shimmer). Sapwood: Narrow and pale, occurring rarely. Texture: Fine and uniform, with a naturally smooth feel when sanded. Grain: Mostly straight, sometimes interlocked for added visual interest. Durability: Naturally resilient and extremely resistant to wear, making it ideal for heirloom-quality projects.
